Please RSVP ASAP if you’re interested! This will help us coordinate museum logistics — arranging parking, tickets, and splitting into groups if we have a big turnout.
Our main focus is the excellent new special exhibition, “Unearthed: Raw Beauty,” in collaboration with the Gallery of Natural Art. It opened in December 2025 and runs through April 2027. It is a must-see for any mineral lover. The display features nearly 400 spectacular specimens, many of which were found right here in California — including blue caps, a bright pink kunzite, orange spessartine, deep blue benitoite, and a gold “flame”. You can find more details and some great pictures at https://nhm.org/unearthed-
We will also get a glimpse of the lab where Tony Kampf and Aaron Celestian use various analytical gear to study minerals, gemstones, soils, and rocks. And don’t forget the amazing Gem and Mineral Hall exhibition, including the California area, featuring donations from MSSC members.
More details to come. No 4WD necessary this time
, just an RSVP and a lot of love for minerals!
